Reasons for formation of noise & measures for reduction  
Noise pollution is mainly caused by sound sources, media and receivers. Only coexist can they interfere with listeners. So in respect to these three, we can control the noises by means of decreasing levels of noise sources, retarding the propagation of noises and blocking noise receiving. Specifically, we can accordingly take the following three ways to control noise: noise absorption, noise insulation and noise elimination.
There are totally three ways - noise absorption, noise insulation and noise elimination - to reduce noise in noise mitigation techniques. Noise absorption is defined, as the incident sound that strikes an object that part of it is transformed into other forms of energy absorbed by the object. The larger the sound absorption coefficient of a material, the absorption is better. Sound insulation is the process of soundproofing the sound source a small enclosed space. When the sound wave hits a barrier, part of the incident sound energy is reflected, while the other is absorbed owing to the change of interface characteristic impedance. Sound transmission coefficient stands for the transmitted sound energy. The smaller the sound permeation coefficient is, the less the sound energy is, and the better the sound insulation performance is. Noise elimination aims to eliminate the aerodynamic noise through a porous sound absorption material fixed on the inner wall of the flow channel or fixed in the pipeline in a certain way.
